Another very frequently asked question. When will I start loosing weight?
Pilates is a method that I believe should be part of your lifestyle forever and not only to loose weight and then go back to a life without Pilates. And I am not saying you should go to Pilates classes for the rest of your life, but incorporate Pilates method within or daily movement.
After the first class of Pilates you might not feel anything, that really depends on your body and how well were you listening to your instructor. But also you might not feel any difference just because we all have unique bodies and you need more time to understand the idea behind the movement.
I have clients that have told me that after the first session they feel better, motivated and encouraged. And they also share that they have less back pain just from one session! That is awesome! Another clients have shared that they didn't feel much and they were not sure if they were doing the right thing. Also very normal! To all of you I can only tell you that you should not stop after the first time! Keep going and keep focusing during the class. Trust me you will feel amazing after few sessions, and if you are persistent enough your body is going to start changing and you will feel stronger from within. And after you have learned how to really move and engage your muscles you will be a Pilates practicionnaire forever. Even off the mat.
Pilates is not about loosing weight, Pilates is about changing your lifestyle. This is going to make you healthier and then loose weight if that is your goal. But firstly you will become more flexible and mobile. You will have less back pain and move with ease.
Trust the process and trust your instructor. Everything that you want to do, you will be capable of doing if you are persistent and focused. Discipline is a big part of the Pilates practice!
